Koç University has a fast-growing and dynamic law school which was founded in 2003 and has recruited excellent talents at all levels in recent years (https://law.ku.edu.tr/en/people/faculty). The Law School also currently admits the best students in Türkiye. As of 2017, the number of students admitted per year is 96, 20 of which have full scholarship. All students, which were admitted in 2016 come from the top 2% of students who took the central national examination.

The Law School has two research centers, namely Dr. Nüsret-Semahat Arsel Center for International Business Law (NASAMER: http://nasamer.ku.edu.tr) and Center for Global Public Law (KUREMER: http://kuremer.ku.edu.tr) which are committed to cutting edge research with externally funded projects from institutions such as the British Academy, TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye) and the Science Academy. The Law School members are also engaged in interdisciplinary centers and forums such as the Center for Gender and Women’s Studies (KOÇ-KAM), Maritime Forum (KUDENFOR), and the Center for Globalization, Peace and Democratic Governance (GLODEM).

The Law School’s curriculum follows the national regulatory framework for legal education. The medium of instruction is both English and Turkish. The courses with international and comparative law content, and liberal arts courses are taught in English. The Law School offers both LLM and PhD programs in law. Qualifications required from the applicants include a strong commitment to scholarly research with international impact, and high quality teaching. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in law (or be near completion) from an accredited university. Rank is open and salary is competitive. Assistant professors will be offered three year contracts, whereas associate professors and full professors will be offered five year contracts, all of which are subject to renewal. A substantial research record is required for senior appointments. Preference will be given to applicants specializing in particular in Commercial Law, Public International Law, Legal Sociology and Jurisprudence; however, applications are also invited for qualified candidates offering expertise in other areas of law.
